As Buyer’s, it’s important to know why you need a good real estate agent. One of the biggest things I have discovered through doing open houses, is the number of Buyer’s that don’t have an agent or worse, do have agents and they’re out on their own.
First for those Buyers’ that aren’t working with agents, I understand that in the beginning it may be that you just aren’t ready, and that’s ok. I hope you are using this time to educate yourself with the local market and neighbourhoods, but more importantly I hope you are using this time to meet the agents, get to know them a little bit – consider it a chance for an informal interview. When your ready to commit to seriously looking for your first home or your dream home, pick the agent that rights for you, pick a good real estate agent.
I would be remiss if I didn’t point out that some home buyers, especially first-time home buyers, are wary of real estate agents. They don’t trust them. They think that real estate agents care only about closing the deal and not about them. A small percentage of agents are like that, but the larger percentage care deeply about providing quality service and treating clients honestly and ethically.
Before you make the decision to go it alone, consider these points when acting without an agent…
